UPDATE: Lee underwent the craniotomy on Wednesday, May 28th. His recovery is going a little slower than anticipated, but he is starting to heal. Please keep praying!
My brother-in-law, Alson (Lee) Carter, is undergoing a craniotomy on May 28 to perform a right temporal lobectomy in hopes of improving — and possibly eradicating — his epilepsy. Lee has been battling seizures for three years that have been non-responsive to medication, greatly impacting his life and his family’s.
Several years ago, Lee suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) after being hit by three IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blasts during his tour in Iraq. Throughout his military career, he served two tours in Iraq, earning a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and combat action badge for his bravery and sacrifice. His medical team believes the TBI is the main cause of the seizures he has been enduring.
Lee’s seizures have made it extremely difficult for him to work, enjoy everyday activities, or participate fully in family life. Sounds and overexertion often trigger seizures, and the unpredictability of his condition has made it difficult for him to drive. Even simple moments — relaxing at home, attending his kids’ activities, or tackling projects — have become major challenges. His wife, Marjorie, has faithfully carried the load as a wife, mother, nurse, and nurse practitioner student, stepping up in every way to support their family.
Lee, Marjorie, and their three children — Leo (12), Sophia (8), and Max (5) — have had their faith tested and strengthened through the chaos of the past three years. They trust that God is working all things for good and that He will provide for them in every way.
We are joining them in praying for a successful surgery and a huge improvement in Lee’s quality of life. We are also asking for your support in helping to cover their bills while Lee recovers. Any amount is a blessing and will help ease their burden during this critical time.
Thank you so much for your prayers, your generosity, and for standing with this precious family.
