In the days leading up to July 29th, a group of at least 6 adult domestic rabbits were abandoned at Butcher Boys in Endicott.
Domestic rabbits have no appropriate adaptations to wild living, so getting them to safety was a matter of urgency. On the 29th, my husband and I, with the help of my mother, an employee, and a community member, managed to rescue 5 of the 6 adults, and a litter of 7 kits who will be hand-reared, as we don't know which adult is their mother.
We want to house and feed them all appropriately until they can find homes, but most importantly, we want to get them checked out by a veterinarian and also, hopefully, spayed and neutered to prevent future unwanted litters!
We'll appreciate any help you can offer. We'd love to see the community rally around these helpless critters to get them the care they deserve and make them more adaptable for future bun-loving pet parents.
Donations will be used for:
- Hay, pellets, & fresh produce for 5 - 6 adult bunnies
- Goats milk & pediatric dose syringes to hand rear the 7 kits
- Enclosures & bedding for all
- Initial wellness vet checks for all
- Medical care if required
- Spay/ neuter surgeries for all adult bunnies
