Hi, everyone.
As most people know, I picked up my life to move to Puerto Rico a few years ago with my partner and our cats.
I am a disabled queer woman who goes to school full time and have been working an unpaid internship for my program. Due to these things, the language barrier, and lack of transportation, it’s been difficult to keep a job on the island.
Things were going great until a few months ago, when there started to be more stress and difficulty in my relationship. I have been staying with friends since October in order to give my partner space. Things changed and now my partner is unwilling to communicate with me, so I am being forced to pick up my life once again and move back stateside. My timeline is short and I don’t know how long I’ll be able to stay in Puerto Rico safely.
I have a handful of options but they all cost money. I also desperately need to get back on my antidepressants, which means I need effective medical care.
I have to be able to cover shipping costs for my belongings, flights and moving expenses, move my cats, figure out a location and apply for an apartment, find deposit and rent money, feed myself and get groceries, deal with medication and health insurance, and to be able to sustain myself while I find a job, continue with my Masters program, and eventually (hopefully but not guaranteed) find a paid internship.
My goal is high, but so are rent prices and moving costs. Every little bit helps and when I have time after I’ve settled, I would be happy to draw a commission for every person who donates.
Everyone who knows me knows I struggle to ask for help. This is a big deal for me, and I appreciate all the support I’ve gotten and am thankful for the options I do have.
Thanks. -Veronica, Skye, and Ravioli
NOTE: gofundme takes part of the donations. if you’re comfortable, sending me funds directly is the better option so neither of us lose money. I have venmo, paypal, cashapp, and zelle.
