Support Veronica's Family After Fire Disaster
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Veronica, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. I’ve created this GoFundMe because my husband, our dog Butch, and I are in desperate need of temporary housing after losing our home in the recent devastating fire. Words cannot fully express how thankful I am to the family and friends who have reached out, offered support, and donated to help us through this unimaginable time.
Right now, we are displaced, living in a motel, and we left with only the clothes on our backs. We are urgently in need of emergency funds to cover room, board, and basic necessities like food, clothing, and medication. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean the world to us as we navigate this incredibly challenging time. Our apartment, which was not only our home but also my workplace, suffered extensive smoke, soot, and fire damage. It’s uninhabitable, and evacuation orders remain in effect as search and rescue teams continue their work. The fire has torn through our neighborhood, destroying the Chevron Gas Station, the Bunny Museum, local homes, and cherished businesses like Café de Leche, Foxes, Rancho Side Pie, and many more. The loss is overwhelming, not just for me, but for our entire community, which had such a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. This tragedy has impacted every aspect of my life. I cared for my grandbabies in our home, where they had their own playroom, and now that space is gone. My part time job was helping to manage the property with the fires that ravished our neighborhood and Damage to our building I am no longer Assisting on the property. I also have a heart condition, and I’ve been unable to access my medication due to curfews and restrictions in the area. With no way to retrieve essentials or irreplaceable items like family heirlooms, it’s been hard to process this loss both physically and emotionally.I’m deeply heartbroken for everyone who has lost so much—homes, businesses, pets, and, tragically, even loved ones. The fire has left our close-knit community shattered, and while material things can be replaced, the memories we’ve lost are irreplaceable.
Altadena was a beautiful, vibrant place to live and visit, and I’m devastated that those days are now just memories. I’m holding onto hope for a new beginning, and your kindness and generosity can help make that possible. Your donations will go toward housing, food, clothing, and medical care as we begin to rebuild our lives. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your compassion during this incredibly difficult time. Your support gives us hope as we try to move forward.
Blessings to you all,
Veronica
