Support Veronica's Family After a Devastating Fire

Hello, my name is Veronica Garcia. On March 19th, 2025, my family lost our Rancho Cordova home where we had lived for almost 14 years, in a fire. It is considered a total loss.

At this moment, we are in a hotel and looking for a rental to live in until our home is rebuilt. The timeframe on the rebuild is a year. My family consists of myself, my two sons, and our two puppies.

Not only has this tragedy displaced us from our home, but we also lost all of our belongings. We are also in need of vet care for our dog, Smokey. He was in the bedroom where the fire started. The RCFD found him unresponsive in his kennel; they said he was trying to bite his way out. Thankfully, RCPD was able to revive him. He even made it on the Fox 40 news. He has severe lung damage. Thankfully the county was able to help us get Smokey into a vet on 03/21/25, where he received oxygen and IV fluids. Today he is doing a lot better, but still has a lingering cough. He will eventually need to see a vet again, so we could use the help to get him his vet care.

A question I’ve been asked, is if my insurance is helping us right now with everything, unfortunately my home owners insurance is written to ONLY cover the replacement of my house, no personal items, no assistance with renting a temporary home. So I am paying out of pocket for everything else. I will have to pay the mortgage and a rental for the next year.

I do want to confirm that you may have seen another page for us, it was started by my niece, Shianne. It is 100% valid. I am creating this one because people want to donate, but because they don’t know us, they are concerned about the validity of the other page.
