Support Vernon Travis: Fair Sentence Appeal

Donation protected
I am Vernon Travis III's mother. I am making this plea for help in raising funds for a Writ of Habeas Corpus for my son. Our goal is to have his sentence reduced to be comparable to his cohorts. The amount of time he received is far above their sentences.

He risked his life as he served this country to ensure we have our constitutional rights, yet he is now being denied his rights to a fair sentence.

Iraqi War Veteran, Vernon Travis, unjustly received a 55-year-prison sentence for Burglary of a Habitation, while his counterparts received 15 and 29 years, respectively. Travis and one accomplice were apprehended at the time of the crime, while the 3rd person was at large for over a year. While Travis did not initiate the break into the house or contrive the plan, he was the only one to throw himself at the mercy of the court. No one was harmed, yet Travis received the excessive 55-year sentence.

Travis, had been released honorably from the Air Force shortly after returning from Iraq. He received no post military counseling to determine any level of support he should receive after serving. Subsequently, and after self-medicating for symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), he was formally diagnosed by the Veteran's Affairs Hospital.

In the writ, we are asking that Vernon Travis III receive a reduced sentence-- one that is equal to Timothy Pugh, his accomplice. Please help.
