My name is Eric Wefald. I live in Portland, Maine. For the majority of 2024 I lived in Altadena, California with my aunt. My aunt, Verna Wefald, is my hero. A former public defender, she is currently an appellate attorney working for decades on behalf of poor people in the state of California. She lost everything in the Eaton fire. Her home in Altadena is gone. Luckily she and her dogs were able to evacuate with their lives. She lost all her clothing and doesn't have a laptop. She is looking to pay off debt associated with contracting she had done in the months before her home was burned down.
