Requesting for prayers and support for Brother Kim a 77 year old missionary father’s fight against stage 4 colorectal cancer.
Background :
Verasak (Kim) Voraritskul, 77 years old has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer. The disease originated in his rectum, and it has thereafter spread throughout his abdominal cavity, reaching his liver. Despite his advanced age and late stage cancer diagnosis, his vital organs are all fully functional and healthy, minus an almost fully blocked lower large intestine. This has since been addressed through a successful colostomy operation that was performed at the Bangkok Hospital Cancer Center where he has been admitted since 20th October, 2025.
A total of 15 pounds of built up fluid was removed from his abdominal cavity in order to establish an opening through an ostomy bag. This first operation serves to bypass the blockage in his lower large intestine and has been successful.
On 2 November, he underwent his first chemotherapy infusion, which is part of the initial treatment. He awaits additional cancer cell test results to identify the cancer makeup and explore additional treatment options towards remission and to control the spread of the disease and possibly cure him from stage 4 cancer.
As a missionary, he established churches in nearly every province in Northeastern Thailand through his lifelong work of 50 years, alongside my late mother, Rebecca, in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
Even after his retirement, he has not stopped preaching and spreading the Word of God. He still continues his ministry through social media platforms, where he is warmly received.
About me :
As his son, I am his only primary caregiver and sole financial support. After serving 20 years in the US Army, I retired as a major and returned to Thailand. I currently reside in Udon Thani, Thailand raising my 15 year old son, David, as a single dad.
Time is of the essence, and I have moved swiftly and initiated treatment for him.
Nevertheless, any additional assistance provided would be greatly appreciated and would help in relieving and offsetting the rising costs and financial responsibilities that I have borne and will continue to undertake.
After consulting with his doctors and the hospital’s finance office, the current and projected treatment and expenses, including medical procedures such as medication, operations, consultations, patient care, and more, will reach an approximated USD 200,000+.
