THE END OF THE WORLD IS NIGH!
But have no fear, you can still be saved. This September, you'll have the chance to prepare your immortal soul for a new world of nonconformity and monstrosity, to cleanse yourself of your sins (being straight, white and/or dressing somewhat normally) and shed any shreds of guilt and shame that dwell in your subconscious.
Created by Venus Patel alongside collaborators Shauna Harris & Ciarán McGannon, this new live show will be an immersive experience that reimagines the apocalypse as a queer extravaganza. It is the culmination of years of work, devotion and traditions passed down from loved ones. With music inspired by Hindu garba, Gregorian chants and black metal, you're invited to embrace your true self and sing and dance with the music of the queer church!
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP
We're passing the hat around and asking you to dig deep. Your donations will go towards cast and crew's fees, posters and ads to promote the show, insurance costs, props and costumes...and while we can't promise anything, they might just save your soul.
Venus Patel is a transfemme artist of colour who works with performance, film, and visual art. Her work explores her identity as an "other" and its confinement by a society obsessed with conformity. She applies her unique blend of humour, absurdity and abjection to a range of subject matter including religious guilt, hate crimes and the suppression of Queer POC. In 2022, Venus won the RDS Taylor Art Award for her performance film Eggshells. In 2023, she won the Romilly Walton Masters Award to develop a new experimental performance piece at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris. She was a collaborator on the award-winning show Hive City Legacy: Dublin that premiered at Dublin Fringe Festival 2022. This show has been developed at FRINGE LAB and supported by Centre Culturel Irlandais and Dublin Fringe Festival’s Romilly Walton Masters Award, axis: Ballymun via axis Assemble and The Rowan Trust.
More info will be coming very soon but for now, thank you for your interest in our show, your donations and for sharing this widely with your friends and family.
Remember, "Sin boldly, but believe and rejoice in our GoFundMe even more boldly."
P.S. If you can't wait 'til September, get yourselves down to Hyne's Bar in Stoneybatter this Friday 21st June where we'll have live music, DJs and a drag king performing from 6pm! Get your tickets here, all funds going towards our righteous cause.
