My name is Venise Marks Thompson. I am currently living in New York. I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share the devastating impact that Hurricane Melissa has had on my family in Black River, Jamaica. The hurricane swept through their hometown, leaving a trail of destruction that has affected them significantly.

Their homes have suffered a lot of damages, with many of their belongings lost to the flood. The emotional and financial burden has been overwhelming, and they are struggling to rebuild their lives amidst the chaos. Basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter have become urgent needs, and the path to recovery seems daunting. Despite these challenges, they remain hopeful and resilient. They are turning to you, our community near and far, for support. Your generosity can help them restore a sense of normalcy and security. The funds raised will go directly towards repairing their homes, replacing lost belongings, and ensuring they have access to essentials. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a tremendous difference in our journey to recovery. They would be grateful for your compassion and support during this difficult time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us.
