Update: Thank you for the outpouring of love and generosity for the Garcia family. The mass of attendees at Venancio’s Celebration of Life was heartwarming and helped the family feel supported. Venancio was very passionate about making sure the people he loved were taken care of and would’ve been grateful to see how friends and family came together. It’s been two weeks since Venancio passed away. In that time, his body has been laid to rest. Your generous donations helped the family afford the $9k funeral care and have paid the home mortgage for February and part of March. This is such a relief. The older children are continuing to work on securing funds to keep their family home and provide some stability for the younger kids who are still in high school. The family is now about to come up against expensive legal bills in order to settle their dad’s estate as well as his restaurant business. Your immense kindness has really helped the Garcia family. Please share this fundraiser in the hopes that we can reach our goal and ease some of the financial burden the Garcia kids are about to face. Thank you all endlessly.

On Friday, February 6th, Venancio Garcia passed away suddenly and very unexpectedly. One of Venancio's children found him, and emergency services and the Sheriff's department responded immediately. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that Venancio died of natural causes.

Venancio was a single father and the sole provider for his four children and niece. All four children are in school, with the younger two still in high school. Venancio was also the owner of Los Dos Amigos, a beloved local restaurant, and was known for his dedication to his family and his community.

The family is now facing many unexpected challenges, including funeral expenses, mortgage payments, living costs, school fees, legal expenses to manage the estate, and the need to keep the restaurant running. The loss of their father has left the children navigating a lot of changes and uncertainty, and any support from the community will make a meaningful difference during this difficult time.

A celebration of life for Venancio will be held on Thursday, February 12 at Perez Funeral Home in Camarillo, beginning at 5pm. The service is open to the public, and all who knew Venancio are welcome to attend. The family is deeply grateful for any support. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Venancio's love for animals, donations can be made to Healthcare for Homeless Animals in his name.
