Support me in bringing Star*Relic: Legacy of the Primordials audiobook to life!
Hi! I’m Velora Venn , the author of Star*Relic, a sapphic sci-fi romantasy series full of magick, amalgam tech, ancient AI, slow-burn romance, and found-family heroism. Book One of Star*Relic (Clash of Metal and Magick) will be published next year, and it would be a delight to make it available in all formats!
I’m raising funds to bring this story to audio format because I believe accessibility matters. Everyone deserves to experience stories in the way that works best for them, whether that's turning pages, reading on your device, listening on the go, or enjoying a story via audio due to visual impairment, dyslexia, learning differences, chronic pain, or other access needs. For a story rooted in connection and that celebrates inclusivity, identity, & support in all its forms, making Star*Relic accessible as an audiobook isn’t just important. It feels essential. It’s a love letter to the world, and I want it to reach everyone it was meant to empower.
Star*Relic is a story built around inclusion, connection, and courage. It centers LGBTQIA+ characters and features neurodivergent and differently-abled heroes who work to save the world not in spite of who they are, but because of it. The main storyline follows a grumpy/sunshine, friends-to-enemies-to-lovers sapphic romance set against a backdrop of planetary ruin and paradise, shimmering magic, and deep emotional stakes.
If you love stories like She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, KPop Demon Hunters, or the Horizon games by Guerrilla, you'll feel right at home here. This story is written to be YA-appropriate but crafted to be just as enjoyable for adult readers, given the romantic tension, meaningful character growth, and a healthy dose of hope that we all could use more of!
Star*Relic will feature dozens of pages of original artwork by the author (who earned her BFA in Video Game Art and Design)!
Your support will help fund a professional and extremely-talented audiobook narrator, Amber McCulloch, to bring this story to life for listeners. Whether you’re donating $1 or sharing this campaign, every bit helps make this book more accessible, more inclusive, and more impactful! ♥
Thank you so much for believing in inclusive storytelling and in the power of queer, diverse heroes saving the universe (and each other).
Let’s make this audiobook happen!!
(I apologize, but I originally posted this fundraiser with perks for different amounts of donations. I have since learned GoFundMe, unlike Kickstarter, does not allow rewards like this. Therefore, I am unable to offer gifts/perks/rewards for any donations received. No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe. Thank you for your understanding.)

Synopsis of Book 1, Part 1:
A malfunctioning, planet-regulating artificial intelligence.
Six interconnected planets teetering on the brink of collapse.
An impending extraterrestrial invasion.
Who could possibly save an entire solar system?
Naturally, it falls on Veyla, a newly-awakened clone of an extinct Primordial species. If she fails, AION — an AI with a holographic owl avatar and a core directive to maintain planetary balance — will succeed in her latest mission: wiping out every magick user with her army of nightmare-fuel bots.
Oh, and there are interplanetary tensions and cute girls with questionable agendas to contend with. Typical teenage stuff.
No pressure, right? At least she’s got an excessive amount of optimism to work with!
Armed with ancient magick (that she’s still kind of winging) and cutting-edge tech (which she’s mostly figured out) Veyla and her friends might just be the only ones capable of uniting people, planets, and the slightly-unhinged AI who was supposed to protect them in the first place.
The real question is: can they do it all in time?
Synopsis of Book 1 Part 2:
Thousands of stolen soulcrafts.
A former ally turned wildcard.
And five AI cores standing between our heroine and planetary extinction.
The pressure’s rising for Veyla — the teenage clone of an ancient, extinct alien species — as she and her unlikely team race across the solar system with the ultimate goal of restoring a corrupted planetary AI shaped like a holographic owl before magick disappears for good…along with all the people who wield it. But not everything is going according to plan. Between magick not being accessible to them and their animal familiars on most every planet they visit, some of them getting scattered through a malfunctioning portal, and oh, yeah — Ash (the questionably-aligned, heartbreaking heartthrob) now working with the enemy, things are far from easy.
As they journey through volcanic wastelands, singing crystal caves, and hostile territories full of secrets, Veyla discovers hidden knowledge encoded in her DNA while simultaneously working to contain the feelings she’s hoped to keep buried.
There are new allies, risky detours, and absolutely no time for emotional processing. Especially not during the Solstice Starlight Ball, where truths glitter just beneath the surface, and a couple songs and a single dance might just unravel everything.
Amid the chaos, Veyla still has a job to do: recover the remaining AI cores before AION purges Elysia of all sentient life. The final stop on their mission? Naturally, it’s Ash’s homeworld.
No biggie. It’s just the most heavily-guarded core yet. And their best shot at stealing it might just mean joining forces with the last person Veyla expected to trust…
