Help Save a 21-Day-Old Baby Fighting for His Life in the NICU
Vedasree and Pobbathi Veda’s newborn son, just 21 days old, was diagnosed with intestinal malrotation, a serious condition where the intestines do not develop or position correctly. This led to severe complications, requiring immediate lifesaving surgery.
On January 7, 2025, the parents' worst fears became reality as their little one was rushed into surgery at Ankura Hospital for Women and Children, Chittoor. The doctors performed multiple complex procedures, including:
Laparotomy: A surgical procedure to open and examine the abdomen.
End colostomy: Bringing part of the large intestine to an external opening in the belly to allow waste to pass into a colostomy bag.
Appendectomy: Removal of the appendix to prevent future complications.
Rectosigmoid resection: Removing a damaged section of the lower intestine (rectum and sigmoid colon).
Despite the successful surgery, the newborn remains in the NICU, fighting for survival. His tiny hands clench as he battles through each day, showing resilience beyond his age. His father, Pobbathi Veda, stands by his side, desperate to save his son but struggling with the overwhelming medical expenses.
A Father's Plea for Help:
“My wife, Vedasree, had barely recovered from childbirth when our son was taken into surgery. As I stood there, helpless, he reached out and held my finger—his grip small but filled with determination. That moment broke me. He was fighting to survive, and I promised to fight with him.”
But the journey is not over. The NICU stay and medical costs have placed a huge financial burden on our family. We are reaching out for your kindness and generosity to help our little one get the care he needs.
