I am sad to share that Varun left us yesterday (US calendar), succumbing to brain injuries in an accident on 20th November 2025.
Our world has collapsed in a way we could never imagine.
My elder brother, Varun Sharma—a young, bright soul working with VISA and living alone in Foster City, California—was hit by a speeding car while walking near his home. In an instant, our lives were shattered.
Varun fought for for his life in a US hospital with a severe, life-threatening head injury. He was unconscious, heavily critical, and on life support.
Varun is not just a name—
He is the pillar of our family, the pride of our parents,
my guiding force, and a person whose kindness has touched everyone around him.
He has always helped others without hesitation… and now he is the one who needs help.
Our aging father rushed to the US, alone, heartbroken and trembling, to stand beside his critically injured son, but is now at loss of words.
We, as a family, are doing everything we can—but the emotional strain, the costs related to the legal processes, and the logistics of eventually bringing his belongings to India are overwhelming beyond words.
Even though Varun had insurance, the critical emergency care in the US leaves enormous uncovered costs especially ICU treatment, trauma care, and the legal processes. This burden is far beyond what our family can handle alone.
We are humbly, desperately seeking your support.
The funds raised through this fundraiser will be transferred to Varun's father, Sh. Shyam Sunder.
I am Varun's younger brother, Hemant Sharma.
Your donation—no matter how small—will directly help us:
• Support our father who is caring for him alone in the US
• Navigate legal procedures and support the family
• Bring Varun’s personal belongings back home
In moments like these, even a single act of kindness becomes a lifeline.
Your contribution can contribute towards Varun’s legacy of help.
We ask you from the deepest place in our hearts—
please keep Varun in your prayers,
please stand with our family in this darkest hour,
and please help us give him every possible chance to come back to us.
Every donation, every prayer, every share is a blessing.
Please help us bring light back into our home.
PS:
Kindly review the TIP section on the GoFundMe page—by default it adds 11.5%. You may adjust it as needed.
