Support Vanessa Torres' Journey to Recovery

My name is Vanessa Torres. I’m making this gofundme as a last resort for my sanity and well-being. I will be taking off of work (medical leave) for 35 days to go to a psych ward/rehab clinic in Florida. I’ve had my own apartment for four months now and I don’t want to lose it because I’m seeking help.

I’ve been on Xanax every day for about five years (self medicating) and have been suicidal for a long time. I’ve been self harming off and on since I was 17. I am now 31 and have been severely self harming for the past few months. We all know that drinking on Xanax is a terrible and deadly combination, which I have been doing for years. It turns you into a completely different person. I have so many regrets and have hurt friends and family due to my issues. After the loss of my best friend/soul mate, my mental health severely declined. More and more things have piled on my trauma plate and I am at my breaking point.

I am absolutely terrified but I know this is necessary and I am ready to be a better person. I am ready to get clean and work through my trauma and get the therapy I need. While I am away, I will have a house sitter/cat sitter. Since I’ll be off work and won’t be getting paid fully, I made this gofundme in case anyone wanted to help while I was in treatment (cost of stay/medication, as well as care packages and food/litter for my cat. I’m not entirely sure about the exact amount needed so the goal is just a guesstimate. Anything will help.
