Hello, I’m DJ LaPan, son of Don LaPan and Vanessa LaPan. Our family is reaching out after the passing of my father to help my mother get back on her feet. My Dad took care of everything possible for my Mom up until he passed on Friday morning 8/2 after losing a battle to lung cancer, as well as severe COPD.

Most of you knew my Dad as the great man he was, he was a Marine, a Melbourne Village police officer, and a business owner, he was selfless, he would literally do anything for anyone, didn’t matter what time of day you called him, or what you needed. He would do everything in his power to make it happen, he was my biological Father, but he also brought in and raised my step brother and sister from my Moms previous marriage. In the later years, when I was a teenager, he also brought in 5 grandkids due to unexpected circumstances and helped raise them to the adults they are today. He was PaPa to many kids through the years! Now that he has been called home to heaven, my Mom will need some help getting back on her feet while we help her navigate this difficult time.

Both of my parents are on social security, and now that Dad has passed my Mom will no longer be able to receive his benefits as she already receiving the higher amount. So as you can imagine this will impact her in a huge way, our family is going to do whatever it takes to make sure my Mom can stay in her home. But at this time it’s just financially adding up. Another hurdle we battle is my dad took care of paying all the bills, so we’re having to get access to accounts etc. to make sure we can stay on top of things. My Mom is not computer savvy at all so we are working through that as well. As of now we are trying to raise enough money to pay off the only vehicle they have to help her move forward. We ask that anything will help, and we all appreciate you all and everyone that has reached out with prayers, sending condolences, food etc. Our family can’t thank you enough. If you can’t help financially, we would love all the prayers we can get for our family. We know miracles happen every day and we serve a big God! Thank you for your time! God bless you all!
