Hi everyone!

My name is Brian, and I'm starting this GoFundMe for one of my best friends, Valu, and her family after their home was flooded during the severe storms that hit Connersville, Indiana, this week.

Valu and her family had to evacuate their home and are staying elsewhere while they figure out what comes next. Water made its way into their house, damaging their home and most of Valu's belongings. Now, they’re left trying to figure out what can be saved, what needs to be replaced, and what comes next.

I'm starting this because Valu is someone who has been there for me through so many difficult moments in my life, and she's the kind of friend I know I can count on. We met in our sophomore year of college, and she was actually the reason I didn't transfer colleges that year. When I found out what happened to her and her family, I knew I wanted to find a way to show up for her too.

Right now, they're dealing with something that no family is ever really prepared for. On top of losing belongings and dealing with damage to their home, they now have to navigate cleanup, replacing what was lost, finding somewhere to stay long-term again, and all of the unexpected expenses that come with recovering from a flood.

I've set an initial goal of $10,000 to help take some of that weight off their shoulders. The money raised will go directly toward helping Valu and her family with things like replacing damaged belongings, cleanup and repairs, temporary living expenses, everyday necessities, and whatever else they may need as they begin to recover.

Because this just happened, we're still learning the full extent of the damage and what their family will need in the weeks ahead. I'll continue to update this page as we learn more.

I wish I could simply undo what happened to them. I can't. But what I can do is try to make sure Valu and her family don't have to face everything that comes next on their own.
