Support Val’s stroke recovery

Hi everyone, friends and family of myself and my mom (Val Frost)
In July mom suffered an untreated stroke that left her with an inoperable brain clot. Once she received medical care in Mexico it was discovered that she had a 100% blockage in carotid artery on the right side due to the clot and a 60% blockage on the left side. The decision was made to put a stint in the left side to improve blood flow unfortunately after the surgery was completed mom suffered a second stroke and second brain clot. This second inoperable brain clot is located in her frontal cortex and controls many basic functions like speech, swallowing, paralysis on her right side.
Mom was in the icu for 2 weeks and then released for me to take her back to her home in Mexico. Unfortunately mom did not have any insurance and the hospital cost was huge, topping out at over $100000 Canadian.
We have an amazing rehab nurse Carlos who comes 3 times a day to her house to help with the feeding tube, catheter, medication and wound care but again the costs are huge.
My hope is that mom will recover enough in the next couple of months that she can travel home to Canada where stroke rehab is more advanced. Having lived out of the country for 15 yrs there will be a 2 month waiting period before bc medical is active.
This has been an incredibly traumatic experience for her and for all who love her. My hope is that mom recovers her independence once again but the road is a long one. The costs for her care are and will continue to be massive and much more than we can handle. Any and all donations to help support moms care are so incredibly appreciated.
Thank you to all
Much love,
Valerie, Vanessa and family
