Val, my mother-in-law, has always been a caring and dedicated member of our community. For the past 14 years, she has worked at McClellan Elementary in the West Jefferson Hills School District, helping children during lunch and recess. If your child has attended McClellan, chances are Val has opened their yogurt, fruit cups, or cut their apples, always with a warm smile and a kind word. She cares deeply for every child she meets, including her own grandchildren, and her presence has made a difference in so many lives.
Recently, Val was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, an extremely aggressive form of cancer. She is currently undergoing a 12-week chemotherapy regimen, which will be followed by surgery and radiation. The treatment is intense, and as a result, Val is no longer able to work. Despite these challenges, she continues to care for her disabled husband while navigating the difficult side effects of chemotherapy. The emotional and physical toll is significant, but Val faces each day with courage and determination.
Val and her husband live on a fixed income, and with rent increasing, their financial situation has become even more challenging. The funds raised will help offset medical expenses and provide support for daily living costs such as groceries and rent. Any support you can offer would be deeply appreciated, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser with others. Thank you for helping Val and her family during this difficult time.
