Our family is facing the fight of our lives. My dad, a man who has always been a source of strength for us, is currently in the ICU at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, battling a very aggressive Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma. His health has declined with shocking speed, and we are now facing an overwhelming emotional and financial crisis. We are humbly asking for your help.

Just a few weeks ago, my dad complained of simple stomach pains. His doctor suspected it was his gallbladder. But he didn't get better. After I pushed for a second opinion, we discovered he also had pneumonia. On June 6th, The situation took a devastating turn when he suddenly collapsed at home. I rushed him to the ER, where the doctor’s words hit us like a tidal wave: "He is a very sick man."

He was immediately admitted to the ICU, and in the days that followed, his condition became more and more critical. What started as stomach pain has escalated into a full-blown battle for his life.

In the last few weeks, my dad has endured more than anyone should. He has had fluid drained from his lungs, undergone two kidney biopsies, and had multiple ports and tubes placed, including a feeding tube. His kidneys have failed, and he is now on continuous, full-time dialysis. His breathing became so labored that doctors had to intubate him, and he now relies on a ventilator to help him breathe, even while he is awake.

On June 22nd, after starting his first round of chemotherapy, we received a call at 2 AM to rush to the hospital. We found him in a terrible state, but miraculously, he pulled through that night. His oncologist says he is now doing a bit better, so they can continue with the rest of the chemo, and we can see glimpses of the fighter we know and love. However, he remains incredibly weak and faces at least two more weeks in the ICU, likely longer.

The financial burden of this crisis is staggering. My dad has no insurance to cover the immense costs of ICU care, chemotherapy, continuous dialysis, and the numerous procedures he has undergone.

On top of the medical bills, the hospital is in Salt Lake City, which is a 160-mile round trip from our family home. The cost of gas and the time spent traveling is a significant strain. When he is finally discharged, he will be too weak to come straight home and will require at least a month of professional care in an assisted living facility.

We are launching this GoFundMe to humbly ask for support to cover:

Overwhelming Medical Bills: For the ICU stay, chemotherapy, dialysis, and all associated medical procedures not covered by insurance.
Family Lodging: A hotel room in Salt Lake City to allow us to be by his side, saving us precious time and travel expenses during this critical period.
Future Care: The cost of an assisted living facility where he can recover and receive the care he needs before he is strong enough to come home.
Home Expenses: Help to get his house ready and managed for his eventual return.

My dad is in a lot of pain, and though he would never admit it, he is miserable. Before being put on the ventilator he said that he was sick of ice chips, he gives the nurses a hard time in his own stubborn way, and struggles with hallucinations when he wakes from his limited sleep. Through it all, he is fighting.

Any donation, no matter the size, will make a monumental difference to our family. If you cannot donate, sharing this story with your friends and family would be an incredible act of kindness.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for keeping my dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers. We are holding on to hope and are so grateful for your support.
