Hi everyone,

For those who don’t know me, I am Val, a piano teacher in Apex, NC, USA, who is originally from Romania. The night of September 13, 2024, my simple and pretty world got complicated. Cyclone Boris took by surprise Eastern Europe, affecting many countries, including Romania. It destroyed many villages in the county of Galați, Romania. My family and childhood friends were affected in multiple locations such as Costachi Negri, Fârțăneşti, Corod, Cudalbi, and Drăguşeni.

In Drăguşeni is where my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and my nephew, who is 14 years old, reside. My brother-in-law is an

US Army Veteran, 100% disabled, who’s

been living in Drăguşeni his entire retirement since 2018.

While my family had substantial damages, the help I am asking is for the elder people of the village who, despite having very little, are now left with the clothes that they were wearing when the cyclone took them by surprise in the middle of the night.

Boris wiped out half of the villages and 7 people are dead at the moment. Yet, today, September 16 at 5:40 pm, an earthquake of 5.4 strength on the Richter scale erupted in Vrancea County near Galați and affected even more the damages. At this moment, the damages will take a long time to be accounted for. The government is overwhelmed and unprepared as always, and for now, people only received a bottle of water, some food, and a blanket.

This money will get the victims clothes for the colder weather and warm food. If enough money is raised, which is my ultimate goal is to build a room for everyone that lost everything.
