On October 22, our dear Valerie suffered a severe stroke while traveling in Italy. She was rushed to a university hospital in Pisa, where she continues to be treated. However, due to the severity of her stroke, she likely will be unable to travel home for at least several more weeks.

In the meantime, we are working to coordinate the logistical and financial realities of her care. Medical expenses, lodging, and the cost of unexpected travel across oceans add up quickly, but being there with Mom when she needs us is worth every penny. Nevertheless, it is not something anyone anticipates.

Many of you have asked if there is anything you can do to help. The number one thing we ask for is prayer. We are immensely grateful for the countless prayers already received—in the coming days and weeks, please continue to pray.
