My name is Valerie, and I am a single mom currently facing stage 3 breast cancer. Over the past months, I have undergone chemotherapy, one surgery, and radiation. While I had hoped to be finished with treatments, my journey isn’t over yet—I may need another surgery soon. On top of that, I am starting a new chemotherapy medication that will be a significant monthly expense for the next five years. The financial burden of ongoing treatments and the uncertainty of what’s ahead have been overwhelming at times, especially as I try to care for my family.
