Support Valerie: Lost Everything in Fire

Donation protected
Valerie Mars’ Joliet home in the 1100 block of Antram Ave went up in smoke as a result of a Sunday evening fire. The fire happened around 5:40 p.m. on Dec 21.

According to Joliet Fire Battalion Chief James Ryan, the Joliet Fire Department responded to the home for a report of a structure fire. The first units arrived within five minutes of the call. Upon investigation, the crews found flames venting from a picture window in the front of the home. Responding crews made entry through the front door and extinguished the fire.

Valerie Mars has experienced a tragedy after losing everything in a fire that destroyed her home. In an instant, her entire world was turned upside down, and with nothing left but the clothes on her back, she is now facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding from scratch. The fire claimed not only her cherished belongings but also irreplaceable memories, leaving her with a sense of loss that goes beyond material possessions. Val is now in desperate need of the community's support to help her begin anew.

With her immediate needs being basic essentials, Val is asking for donations to buy clothing, shoes, household items, and any goods that can help her get back on her feet. The smallest gesture can make an enormous difference in her recovery. Any help, big or small, would be deeply appreciated as she navigates this challenging chapter.
