On July 28, 2026, our family lost someone we loved deeply. My little sister, Valerie, lost the love of her life, Joe, after his courageous battle with Stage IV colon cancer. Joe fought with incredible strength for years, but cancer ultimately took him far too soon. He leaves behind the family who meant everything to him—Valerie and their two young sons, Andrew (10) and Jorey (12). No child should have to say goodbye to their father at such a young age.
As Valerie grieves this unimaginable loss, she is also facing the overwhelming reality of raising two boys on her own while trying to navigate funeral-related matters, household expenses, and the financial uncertainty that comes with losing Joe’s income. Joe was on disability, but the funds did not arrive before his passing, leaving Valerie without that support. With school starting soon for Andrew and Jorey, Valerie is worried about covering rent, utilities, groceries, and transportation. She may need to take time off work, but FMLA approval is uncertain, adding to the stress and uncertainty.
We are asking for help to give Valerie and the boys the time they need to heal without the immediate burden of financial stress. Your donation will help with housing and monthly living expenses, groceries and household necessities, school supplies and expenses for Andrew and Jorey, transportation, and other unexpected costs during this difficult transition. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and community. Every share, prayer, and act of kindness means more than words can express. Thank you for surrounding Valerie, Andrew, and Jorey with your love, prayers, and support during the most difficult season of their lives.
With gratitude, Josie, Valerie’s sister, and our entire family
