I’m reaching out today for someone who has always been the strong one for everyone else — my sister, Valerie Cross.
For 26 years, Valerie dedicated herself to a major hotel brand, starting at the front desk and working her way up through sales, revenue management, social media, and ultimately to general manager. She didn’t just hold titles — she earned them. Through brand transitions and even the uncertainty of the pandemic, she led her team with strength, integrity, and compassion.
In the photo shared here, she is receiving an award for the highest revenue in the entire hotel chain. That’s who she is: hardworking, driven, and exceptional at what she does.
And yet, just two years later, she found herself without a job.
Since then, she has applied to over 800 positions. She has attended webinars, updated her skills, rewritten her résumé countless times, and pushed forward every single day. She has faced rejection after rejection — and even the heartbreak of job scams. Still, she keeps trying.
Her unemployment benefits have now run out.
She is doing everything she possibly can to stay afloat. She’s not asking for a handout — she just needs a bridge. A little breathing room. A chance to land the right opportunity, ideally a remote role where her decades of experience can shine.
It’s hard to watch someone so capable, so accomplished, and so deserving struggle like this. I can’t fix everything for her — but I can ask for help.
If you’re able to give, no matter the amount, it will go directly toward helping her cover essential expenses while she continues her job search. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much.
She has spent her life helping others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Now I’m hoping we can show her that same kindness in return.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story. ❤️
Because she hasn't been able to renew her driver's license, GoFundMe wants me to tell you the money will be deposited into my account and I will be sending her all the money.
