Hello, my name is Valerie, and I am a single mom to four amazing children. My 21-month-old son, CodaKai, is preparing to undergo a life-altering brain surgery called a hemispherectomy in late October due to intractable epilepsy. His seizures are relentless and have not responded to other treatments, making this surgery his best hope for a better quality of life.
Coda's journey has been incredibly tough, and as his mom, it’s heartbreaking to see my baby endure so much. This surgery will be a major step towards helping him live a seizure-free life, but it also comes with a lengthy recovery process, including extended hospital stays and months of intensive therapy to help him regain his strength and abilities.
As a single mom, I am doing everything I can to support my family, but I will need to take time off work to be with Coda during his surgery and recovery. Balancing the needs of my other three children while navigating this overwhelming situation is challenging, and we are facing significant financial strain from medical expenses, daily living costs, and the loss of income during this time.
I am reaching out for help to cover:
Medical expenses not covered by insurance
Travel and daily costs during CodaKai’s hospital stay
Minor vehicle repairs to maintain transportation to and from the hospital and appointments
Household bills and essential needs while I am unable to work
Rehabilitation and therapy for CodaKai as he recovers
Every bit of support, whether through donations, prayers, or sharing our story, means the world to us. Your generosity will help us focus on what’s most important: giving CodaKai the care and support he needs to overcome this battle.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us during this challenging time.
~Valerie~
