Valentina is a happy, playful 1-year-old who’s already been through more than most kids her age. She was born with Down syndrome and has faced health challenges since day one. Just a couple of months ago, her doctor noticed something unusual during a checkup, and Valentina was rushed to Cottage Hospital. That’s when her family got the news no parent ever wants to hear—Valentina has leukemia. She spent almost a month in the hospital before finally getting to go home.


Now, every week, Valentina and her parents have to make the hour-long drive back to the hospital for her chemotherapy. The medical bills and travel costs are piling up, and it’s tough for her family to keep up. Even with everything going on, her parents stay positive and do everything they can to help Valentina get better. They just want her to have the best shot at getting healthy and to keep her surrounded by love.
