Help Val Rebuild After a Devastating Apartment Fire

On November 29th, tragedy struck Meadowdale Apartments in Carpentersville when a sudden fire tore through the building. In just minutes, flames and smoke swept through the units, leaving families with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

Among those affected was Val Hackman, a kind, hardworking woman who has always been the first to lend a hand to others. Val and her sweet cat, Lucy, were fortunate to escape safely — but everything else she owned was lost in the fire.

Val walked away with only Lucy in her arms and the clothes she had on. Her home, furniture, clothing, personal items, and essentials were completely destroyed. She is now faced with the overwhelming task of starting over from scratch.

If you know Val, you know she is the type of person who never asks for anything… even when she needs it most. Today, we’re asking on her behalf.

This fundraiser will help Val with:

• Immediate essentials (clothing, food, toiletries)

• Replacing basic furniture and household items

• Rebuilding a safe, comfortable home for her and Lucy
