Free public skating has been a beloved winter tradition in Woodstock for generations. The Vail Field rink is a place where kids learn their first turns on the ice, families gather after school, neighbors meet for pick-up games, and the community comes together all season long. The rink is free and open to the public, and it remains one of the few truly accessible winter recreation spaces for all ages.
This year, rising material and equipment costs have created unexpected challenges. To safely open the rink, we need to replace the rink liner, build new light stanchions, and upgrade to a safer, more reliable electrical system. These improvements are essential to keep the rink operating smoothly and safely throughout the winter.
We’re asking for community support to help close the funding gap. Every contribution — no matter the size — helps ensure that the rink remains a vibrant, joyful, and welcoming space for everyone in Woodstock.
Thank you for supporting this treasured local resource. Your generosity helps keep a cherished community tradition alive.
This rink is completely volunteer managed and supported. Local families build the rink each year, Woodstock Fire department helps us fill it up and it is managed throughout the season with love by many in our community. Thank you to all who make this possible.
