Support Va-Hi Businesses

VaHi Businesses Need Our Help

For years, and in some cases decades, the Virginia-Highland Civic Association has counted on Virginia-Highland businesses to raise money for community projects. Year after year the community has asked our businesses to donate to the neighborhood through Summerfest or Tour of Homes, and they have always been gracious in their time and money.

They have raised money for our schools through dine-outs, to restore our fire station through road races and visits with Santa and sponsored our security patrol. They have pitched in on neighborhood cleanups and beautification projects, never asking for anything in return.

This year is different, our businesses are in trouble and they need the neighborhood's help. Revenue is down for many of our businesses by as much as 60% or more. Most have had to lay off employees and shorten hours. And as the pandemic drags on, some are on the verge of closing for good. A vibrant business district is one reason we all live in Virginia-Highland. It is why people have been flocking here from all over metro-Atlanta for decades. That is all at risk.

A vaccine is on the way, but these businesses need help right now to hang on for just a few more months. That is why the VHCA and other community leaders are asking our neighbors to support them during this time. We are raising money to go directly to the businesses in the neighborhood. Many of us are struggling as COVID-19 has changed everything that is familiar. Please donate now so that we don’t lose the wonderful businesses and friends who operate them too.

Below are the businesses that this money will be split evenly among to help them during the next few months.

Info about Organizer:
My name is Chase Johnson and I am doing this on behalf of the Virginia Highland Civic Association. I served on the board for two years and helped with the Tour of Homes during that time.
I have lived in the Virginia Highland neighborhood for 8 years, and it holds a very special place in my heart. The first place I ever met up with friends for a drink in Atlanta was at Highland Tap during my senior year of college during a road trip. Moe's & Joe's is were I  I spent most of my mid to late 20's and Atkin's is were I take people for late night darts or Sunday brunch. Murphy's is the go to place to recommend to friends and family when they come in town. La Tavola pasta night has always been  my best excuse for a Monday date night. The Warren is were we had our engagement party with family and I miss watching people wait in line to get into dark horse and braving the crowds to see amateurs realize their rock n roll dreams at Metalsome. I love this neighborhood because I have so many stories here as do many people throughout the metro area, we are the neighborhood were people from all over  gather when they want to do something special and I am so excited to help be able to preserve that.

The funds will be used to provide the businesses listed a cash infusion, it will be used at the owner's discretion, but we hope it will help keep people on the payroll or key the lights on in some small way!

The money will be withdrawn and deposited in the Virginia- Highland Civic Association's checking account and checks will be written to each business listed (unless they forgo their portion of the proceeds.)
