The UW-Madison Sustainable Solutions Team is honored to represent the Western Great Lakes Region at the 2026 ASCE Student Championship in Fairmont, West Virginia, where we will showcase our work in sustainable site design alongside top student engineers from across the country.

This year’s challenge focused on the redevelopment of a HYPOTHETICAL previously-zoned agricultural site into a potential site for a data center. Our team was tasked with designing sustainable infrastructure for the site, and we concentrated specifically on creating green infrastructure pathways with a heavy focus on water reuse and recycling onsite. From environmentally-friendly alternative energy pathways to local ecosystem imrovements, our proposal integrates innovative civil engineering solutions with thoughtful community planning.
