Hi, my name is Ravendra “Ravi” Persaud, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister Christine and her wife, Usha Persaud, to share their story—and ask for your support.
Usha and Christine met more than 20 years ago—Usha was 23 and Christine just 19. Now 43 and 39, they’ve built a life together filled with laughter, perseverance, and unwavering love.
Over the past year, our family has been hit with one heartbreak after another. Thunder struck twice in the same spot. In late 2024, Christine and I lost our father. Just a few months later, in early 2025, Usha’s father passed away as well. Two families, two fathers, gone in what felt like the blink of an eye. The pain and loss have been nearly impossible to bear, but we have tried to stay strong and hold each other close.
A little over five years ago, Usha was diagnosed with GIST, a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma. At first, treatments gave us hope for the future. But cancer is unpredictable. Recently, the disease has spread quickly, and Usha’s health is declining.
Usha’s fight includes both physical and emotional battles. She now needs daily help for even simple tasks. The medications, treatments, and medical appointments never stop, and costs are mounting quickly, even with insurance.
Christine has been by Usha’s side through it all—juggling work, home care, and countless doctor visits while being the steady, loving partner Usha needs most.
For over 30 years, Usha has been separated from her family in Trinidad. Her greatest wish has always been to see them again, to feel their hugs, and share time in person. Sadly, she is no longer medically able to travel. Now, we are working hard to bring her family here—to fill her days with comfort, love, and the connection she has so deeply missed.
That’s why we are asking for your help.
Your donations will support:
• Medical bills and treatments not fully covered by insurance
• Home care services and essential medical equipment
• Transportation to and from appointments
• Support for Christine when she must miss work to care for Usha
• Household and caregiving expenses that come up unexpectedly
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us give Usha the dignity, comfort, and love she deserves. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this story with your friends, family, or community also makes a real difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your kindness is helping us create precious moments for Usha and her family—moments filled with hope, love, and courage.
With deepest gratitude,
Ravi and Family
