University of South Carolina’s Mock Trial team is a student-led organization where members participate in college-level tournaments that mimic actual legal trials. Through mock trials, students develop critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and legal reasoning skills. The program offers USC students opportunities to gain invaluable experience beneficial for future careers in law and other fields. Members also build their professional network by meeting like-minded law-focused peers and current attorneys, law students, and judges.
Our team relies on fundraising to attend out-of-state competitions and provide lodging for our members while traveling. Although we receive some support from the University, available funding is limited and does not fully cover the costs of transportation, accommodations, and tournament participation. As students already paying tuition and organization dues, we work hard to make every opportunity possible. To continue growing as a program, we need to compete against the nation's top collegiate teams. Each tournament provides invaluable experience that strengthens our advocacy, critical thinking, and courtroom skills. Your support will help cover travel and lodging expenses, allowing us to attend more competitions, gain meaningful experience, and continue building one of the nation's premier collegiate Mock Trial programs.
Thank you for considering a donation to the South Carolina Mock Trial Team. We invest countless hours preparing for competition because of the profound impact this organization has on both our personal and professional lives. It not only provides us with an on-campus network of like-minded law-focused peers, but allows us to build an extensive professional network of attorneys, judges, law students, and fellow competitors from across the country. This provides us with an endless world of possibilities for our future legal careers. The opportunity to receive feedback from accomplished legal professionals and practice real-world trial advocacy is an experience unlike any other offered at the University. Your generosity directly invests in our future, helping us develop the skills, confidence, and professional connections that will serve us throughout our legal careers.
