Starting a family is something many people dream of, but for us, the journey hasn’t been simple. After facing ongoing challenges with infertility, and a traumatic first round of IVF, we're ready to try again.

After trying to conceive for 5 years, suffering three miscarriages, failed ovulation inductions and IUI's, we began our IVF journey last year. After 16 eggs were collected, we had one viable embryo which was transferred. Unfortunately, our little hatchling decided to implant in the wrong place, which resulted in surgery and a tough recovery. Because of where the embryo had implanted, a portion of the uterus had to be removed resulting in having to wait 12-18 months to try again to allow the uterus to heal. Despite this, we are keen to start the process of egg retrieval as soon as possible as our eggs are not getting any younger.

As many may know, NHS fertility treatment is a postcode lottery. Where we live, we are eligible for one full round of IVF, with more transfers funded from frozen embryos. Though unfortunately, we only had one embryo successfully fertilised.

IVF gives us a real chance at having a child, but it comes with significant emotional and financial strain. Unfortunately, both working full time in the NHS / healthcare sector, the costs are far beyond what we can manage alone, which is why we’re reaching out for support.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but we’re holding onto hope. Any contribution — no matter how small — will bring us one step closer to growing our family.
