Support us in Providing Care for the Elderly in Benin

Hello, my name is Mayessa, and I am reaching out to share an important story about my mother, Chakira Onifade, and her incredible journey that has inspired a noble cause.
My mother is a Beninese woman who spent 32 years in France, dedicating over two decades of her life as a nursing assistant in hospitals. Throughout her career, she witnessed the struggles of the elderly and the challenges they faced. After returning to Benin, she was struck by the precariousness and loneliness that so many elderly individuals endure. She saw men and women, often abandoned and without resources, left to fend for themselves. With her loving and compassionate heart, she could not stand by idly.
Determined to make a difference, my mother founded the Association for the Physical Care of Elderly and Destitute People (AEPAD) in 2022. This charity is officially registered with the Ministry of the Interior and has been recognized in the government journal.
In Benin, many elderly people are grappling with increasing health and social insecurity. A significant number spent their lives working in the informal sector, which left them without access to retirement benefits or healthcare coverage. In the absence of a supportive social protection system, these vulnerable individuals find themselves without stable financial resources and access to essential healthcare. Consequently, their living conditions become dire, characterized by insufficient nutrition, poor hygiene, and the onset of various illnesses.
AEPAD is dedicated to providing regular home healthcare and social services for the elderly. The services include personal hygiene care, health monitoring, assistance with medication, and nutritious meals. Since the inception in 2022, they have distributed mattresses, walking canes, medications, meals, and clothing to many vulnerable individuals in need.
Now, they are taking their mission a step further. AEPAD aims to open a facility where they can accommodate elderly individuals and provide them with direct personal care. This facility will be a safe haven where they can receive the attention and support they deserve.
Your contribution will make a significant impact on the lives of elderly individuals in this community. It will directly support AEPAD in providing essential services and resources, including utilities and care for those who need it most.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering a donation to this important cause. Together, we can bring hope and dignity to the lives of our elderly population. Nothing is to small or too large. Your support will help us continue this vital mission and ensure that no elderly person feels alone or abandoned.
Mayessa and Chakira.
