Support Ursula's Journey to a Lung Transplant

My story is simple. I went from being a very popular blues singer in the Baltimore area, entertaining people, which I love to do, and now I am suffering from severe COPD and emphysema. I need a lung transplant. The home environment in which I am living does not have good air quality, and I find that I have to move from this environment after a very long battle with the landlord. Now that I'm on oxygen and struggling, my landlord has decided to raise my rent, which further exacerbates my medical situation with the stress of having to move with my three grandchildren that I have custody of. So, I'm left with few options other than to put together this page to help me raise the funds that I need to get me and my family moved into a healthier physical environment as I prepare for the very long process of a lung transplant.

Many of you, my dear good kind fans, know my story. Some years ago, my grandson died; he was a month and a half old, and all of his brothers and sisters were taken into foster care. I fought the Department of Social Services foster care to get three of my grandchildren and was given the opportunity to raise them. Over the years, we have struggled, but I have managed to make a very good home environment for these children who I love so deeply. In the interim, I had to walk away from some of the singing and performing in order to be a stay-at-home parent to my grandchildren. Now, my health has taken a turn. The doctors tell me I'm too young to have these issues and that a transplant is the best thing to increase the longevity of my life so that I can go on taking care of and loving my grandchildren.

That's what this page is about. It's about love, it's about not giving up no matter what, it's about believing and having faith that you can walk through all things with love and grace. So, I'm asking you, my good fans, to help me reach this financial goal as soon as possible so that we can get me on the road to a transplant and then back to doing what I love, which is singing. This will bring me a far better income than what's going on now.
