Support Urgent Home Repairs for a Senior in Need

Hello to everyone reading this. I'm starting this Go Fund Me page to try to save the home I live in, the same house I grew up in. My 'back is against the wall,' and my options basically have been exhausted.

I have a home equity loan that has seen the payment increase every month the past few months, from $260, to $318, to $358 — to $500 on the statement I received on Sept. 28, 2024.

I hope to, and have attempted to obtain a job but have had no success yet. I am 69-years-old with Social Security benefits and an occasional sale of vintage sports memorabilia on eBay my only income. Like too many other people, I'm definitely living a 'check-to-check' life, which is becoming harder and harder each month.

While trying to obtain two different bank loans in the last two months — one that definitely seemed like a done deal — my homeowner's insurance was canceled, due to repairs needed for my dwelling ('hand rails' for my porch; 'replace deteriorated fascia').

The repairs are sorely needed and I was prepared to get the work done, which the proposed loan would have allowed me to do — as well as combining all of my debts at a monthly payment that would have saved me roughly $850 a month.

But the bank said: 'Hold on. You need to get the work done BEFORE we can approve any loan you apply for!?!

A true rock-and-a-hard-place situation that has left me feeling like I'm teetering on the edge of a cliff ... at the end of my rope.

Any funds I receive on here will pay for trimming large, dangerous trees that surround my house, and the installation of vinyl siding and new gutters.

The best/lowest estimate I received for the tree trimming and removal of all limbs, brush, etc., is $2,700. New gutters range from $1,050 to $1,200 to $2,000. I'm still waiting on the cost of installing vinyl siding.

Go Fund Me is new to me, but I pledge and will provide proof that any money I receive will go into my bank account and will be used to make the improvements I described. Receipts and documents will be provided.
