Help East Palestine, OH Unity Council’s Nonprofit Journey
Donation protected
The time is here for Unity Council to become a non-profit. While we are appreciative of the generosity received from nonprofits all over the U.S. and beyond, we realize they have their own missions, own fights. They cannot be expected nor will they be able to support East Palestine for as long as we will need support. Some of the reasons why now is the time:
- We have thus far been able to rely on the generosity of other nonprofits to pay for board members to attend conferences, events, and take trips to DC.
- We have thus far relied on other nonprofits to help raise mutual aid funds for East Palestine residents.
- We have thus far been able to rely on donations to provide venues, equipment, food, and all other things needed for community events.
- We realize, after multiple local nonprofits misusing funds, that the only way our community can trust money meant for them is not mishandled is to manage it ourselves.
As a nonprofit, we will be able to do all these things ourselves. All financial records will be open to ensure money is handled with integrity.
To become a nonprofit, we must pay $700 for fees. Most of us are still trying to financially recover from the derailment, so we are reaching out to ask for your support.
We know times are hard for everyone, but if you can give 5 or 10 dollars, that adds up!
We appreciate the support!
