Who is United for Climate Justice?

We are a broad, diverse movement of ordinary people who refuse to stand by while the climate crisis deepens. We are students striking for our future, parents defending their children, and grandparents fighting for a livable planet.

United for Climate Justice (UCJ) is a global-wide network linking dozens of grassroots groups, NGOs, and communities who share one goal: climate justice. Together we are building a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable future.

Why We Exist

Across Europe and the world, we are witnessing the collapse of ecosystems, unprecedented floods and wildfires, and growing social inequality. Governments say they want to act on climate change—but at the same time they continue to hand out billions of euros every year in fossil fuel subsidies to the industries most responsible for the crisis.

Fossil subsidies make oil, coal, and gas cheaper and cleaner alternatives harder to compete with. They keep us locked into a system that harms our health, our climate, and our children’s future. We cannot solve the climate emergency while paying the polluters who cause it.

What We Do

Our Stop Fossil Subsidies campaign is a “movement of movements” demanding that European governments and big polluters end these subsidies and redirect public money toward clean energy, resilient communities, and social justice.

We take creative, peaceful, and sometimes disruptive action to put pressure on decision-makers. We mobilise citizens across countries, publish research, expose hidden subsidies, and support communities on the frontlines of climate injustice.

Because history shows that collective action—from mass protests to civil disobedience—can bring about rapid, transformative change, we are determined to build a powerful, united voice to end fossil subsidies once and for all.
