We are the University of North Florida (UNF) Swoop Troupe Theater Club. We are a student-led organization dedicated to creating opportunities for performing arts on campus. We are currently seeking financial support to help fund our upcoming 2025-2026 season consisting of Alice by Heart and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as well as other club activities and events.
In the 2024-25 school year, we produced Ride the Cyclone - Swoop Troupe’s eighth production. Due to limited funding from the UNF student government, we were unable to use the on-campus theater and instead had to partner with a local venue (The 5 & Dime) to bring the show to life. This partnership, although not our initial plan, turned out to be an incredible success, resulting in a record-breaking run for both Swoop Troupe and The 5 & Dime, selling out every single performance.
While our plan to bring our productions back to UNF campus is unfortunately unable to happen, we are incredibly grateful for the support of the local arts in our community who have welcomed us with open arms and are allowing us to collaborate with them to bring these stories to life.
With the devastating recent news of cuts to all theater and music programs at Jacksonville University, having the arts accessible to college students in Jacksonville is more important now than ever before. We believe it’s essential to preserve and promote the arts-not only for those directly involved in the club and productions but also for those in the Jacksonville community who benefit from cultural and creative engagement.
Funds raised through this campaign will go towards ensuring funding for our productions of Alice by Heart and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as well as other club activities and events.
Your contribution will help provide a platform for students to develop skills in performance, direction, production, and technical theater, while also enriching the cultural life of the university.
Thank you for your support of student-led arts initiatives at UNF.
