About The Project

Please Remain is about a broken relationship in a broken world. It explores themes of friendships, heartbreak, and the courage it takes to pursue a second chance before it's too late.

The Story

This film follows a story of a fractured friendship during an apocalypse. Our duo, Jen and Riley, must put their differences aside and work together if they have any hope to survive. While society is collapsing, the true test lies in the choices and obstacles they face in search of sanctuary.

Why us? Why now?

We are a crew of 15 passionate student filmmakers who want to make something that's more than a student project. We are all aspiring professionals and want to show what we are worth. The main goal of this film is to show the amazing talent that we have gathered through the UNCW Film Studies program. We’ve all been studying filmmaking for the past four years and now we have an opportunity to come together and apply everything we’ve learned in an ambitious collaborative project.

Our crew is not hand selected by a producer, but rather, a group of graduating film students ready to take on their final challenge at UNCW. This group of driven student filmmakers are pooling their talents and expertise together to collaborate on a final project we can be proud of. We are taking this opportunity to learn more, hone skills, develop talents, and build relationships.

Some of us have worked extensively with one another in the past, others are meeting for the very first time. As we've gotten to know and work with each other over the last several weeks of development, it's certain that there is no team better qualified for the journey ahead. This project will be strenuous, but our hard-working group is ready to take on our most challenging project yet as student filmmakers.

Right now?

We're finalizing casting, designing props and wardrobe, securing locations, fine-tuning our story, and planning our shots for production. We are looking to secure funding for our production stage occurring in late March and early April. There are a variety of things that require extensive planning & development such as finding our location to film, costume design, and marketing the project as well. With the money raised on GoFundMe we will be able to cover these costs in addition to the costs of being on set such as meals & snacks for our cast & crew and paying for our actors. We need support to be able to show off the hard work all of us are pouring into the project and to afford the creation of our thesis film.

What's next?

After production finishes, comes our festival run! In order to effectively distribute our completed film, we need funding for festival submissions. This is a major milestone for us as student filmmakers and it would help validate all the hard work that we’ve put into this project. It would be an amazing example to show professionals what we are capable of. After our festival run, we want to share our movie with YOU!
