Hello everyone!
We are UMD Anokha, the premier South Asian fusion A Cappella team at the University of Maryland. Last season, we had an incredible year as we competed at Buckeye Laya in Columbus, Ohio and Awaazein in Dallas, Texas, where we won first place at both competitions under the Association of South Asian A Cappella (ASA). Our journey continued to San Francisco, California, where we proudly represented Maryland at All American Awaaz 2025 (A3) and made history by placing second nationally for the first time ever.
This season, we are proud to have competed at Davis Dhwani in Davis, California and Awaazein in Dallas Texas, where we placed 2nd and 1st respectively along with several individual awards. We are proud to say we are returning to the All American Awaaz stage this year held once again in San Franscisco.
We are so grateful for all the support that made last season possible. As we conclude our 2025–2026 competition season with nationals in April, we are excited to continue growing and sharing our music with audiences across the country. However, participating in these competitions comes with significant expenses including registration fees, travel, and lodging. As college students, we depend on the generosity of our community to help make these experiences possible.
Your contributions directly support our ability to perform, compete, and represent the University of Maryland on a national stage. We sincerely appreciate any support you can provide, as it helps us continue to spread our love for South Asian fusion music.
Here is a video of our All American Awaaz 2025 performance, which showcases the music and culture we share and what we are capable of with your support.
