Ksenia is a visual artist from Kyiv, Ukraine. Due to the Russian invasion, Ksenia had to leave her home and art practice in Kyiv, arriving in St. John’s last month. She is a courageous and kind young woman and already working hard to integrate herself into our arts community. Ksenia works with encaustic and tempera paints to create delicate, ethereal paintings inspired by 14th-century Sienese iconography, poetry and the natural world.
The St. John’s arts community is reaching out to ask for your financial support as Ksenia adjusts to life in Newfoundland. With your help and generosity, we're hoping to raise funds for Ksenia to get settled enough to find a place to live, look for permanent work, and begin making art again. Starting from scratch is a daunting task — we can work together to make this a little easier for her.
Your donations will help give Ksenia a head start on this. Paying for rent, covering living expenses and transportation is a huge step. Purchasing a new laptop for communication and administrative work is a priority. When she gets settled, she’ll be looking to rent a studio with proper ventilation and purchase canvases, encaustic mediums, paint brushes and various tools.
We appreciate your help in welcoming Ksenia to our city and vibrant community!
