Uki is an almost 2-year-old rescue from Texas who lives in Maine with her parents, Samantha and Kyle. She has endless joy and makes people smile all over the world via her social media, @ukithemainehusky.
On the night of May 30th, she was rushed to the emergency vet after collapsing and going unconscious. When she came to, she couldn't move and was yelping. This happened again on the car ride to the vet. It was obvious something was wrong all day as she was not eating and was very lethargic. Then this scary event happened, and she needed immediate care.
She was seen at a clinic in Lewiston, where they ran some tests and felt she needed to be admitted to a specialty clinic an hour away. When she was brought there, she was immediately taken in and admitted overnight. She had blood work, tick panels, ultrasounds, and X-rays to determine what was wrong.
It is still unclear exactly what happened, but she started to stabilize on antibiotics. She racked up quite the bill ($3500) from the emergency evaluation and then staying in the ICU and will need to continue to see a vet again this week for follow-up care (medications, more blood work).
We appreciate your consideration and time reading this. Uki is starting to bounce back slowly, but we still have a road ahead of us determining what happened.
We appreciate your consideration.
Cost breakdown:
$700 - Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid Maine - initial emergency evaluation and testing
$2800 - Maine Veterinary Medical Center - critical care and ICU admission
