Last year, UIC Men’s Volleyball was nearly gone.

The club had dwindled to just a handful of committed players. Funding was limited. Participation was low. There was a real possibility the program would disappear entirely.

Instead of letting that happen, we rebuilt.

A small group of determined students stepped up. We recruited. We trained harder. We restructured leadership. We created a culture of accountability and belief. What started as a fight just to survive turned into something no one expected.

We didn’t just come back — we finished 3rd in the nation.

Our president was named to the All Tournament Team, leading by example both on and off the court. That moment wasn’t just a medal — it was proof that resilience, leadership, and belief can rebuild something special.

But here’s the reality:

We are an independent, student-run organization. We are not funded by a university athletic department. Every tournament fee, travel expense, uniform, and gym rental comes from our players.

After pushing ourselves to the national stage, we’re now facing financial challenges that threaten the momentum we worked so hard to build.
