This sweet little dog was abandoned in the parking lot of United for Animals Rescue (UFAR). Someone dropped him off and drove away, leaving him frightened and alone.

He immediately began running through the rescue parking lot and toward busy 441. Our volunteers rushed outside with a dog net because we were terrified he would run into traffic and be seriously injured or killed.

Thankfully, we were able to safely capture him and bring him inside.

When we finally got a look at him, our hearts broke.

His entire body was covered in thick, filthy, severely matted hair. He was so matted that we could barely see his face. After being outside in the rain, he was soaking wet and looked more like a giant wet mop than a dog.

He was frightened and overwhelmed, but he was finally safe.

Our groomer immediately began carefully removing the painful mats. It was a tremendous amount of hair, and because he was so uncomfortable and stressed, he will need a second grooming to finish the job.

Once some of the mats were removed, we could finally see the sweet little dog underneath. ❤️

He is approximately 2 years old and appears to be a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso-type mix. We are still getting to know him and will have him fully evaluated by our veterinarian.

He still needs:

A second grooming

Veterinary examination

Vaccinations and medical care

Neutering

Any additional treatment the veterinarian determines he needs

Continued care while we find him a safe and loving home

We don’t know where he came from or how long he had been living in this condition. What we do know is that he deserved better.

He went from being dumped and running for his life to being safe, cared for, groomed, and surrounded by people who want to help him.

Now we need your help to finish his journey. ❤️

Every donation, no matter the amount, helps. Even $5 or $10 can help cover food, grooming, medical care, vaccines, and his upcoming neuter.

If you can’t donate, please consider sharing his story. A share could help us reach someone who can help cover his care—or even the family who will eventually give him the forever home he deserves.

Thank you for helping UFAR give abandoned animals the second chance they deserve. ❤️

Please donate and share. His new life has only just begun.
