Update(2nd January 2024):
Uday had a craniotomy surgery to remove part of the bone from the skull to expose the brain and let it naturally swell. Even after the surgery, left brain moved 5mm to the right hand side. He still on the ventilator and unable to move his right hand side.

We reach out to you today with heavy hearts and a desperate plea for help for our beloved friend, Uday, who recently faced a life-altering event. On Thursday, December 28th, Uday's life took an unexpected turn. He didn't wake up until 12:30 PM, and upon trying to rouse him, we discovered he couldn't speak and fell when attempting to stand. A swift call to 911 led to his emergency transport to Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital Emergency Room at 1:49 PM, where an MRI revealed a devastating brain stroke due to the occlusion of the left internal carotid artery.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Uday was immediately air-lifted to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital for critical neurological emergency care. As the medical team worked tirelessly to understand and address the situation, they observed on the 29th evening that Uday's left brain had swelled more than 9MM, putting pressure on his eyes and the right side of his brain. In response to this critical situation, an invasive surgery was performed to alleviate the pressure, involving the removal of a portion of the left skull to provide the left side of the brain with the necessary space to swell.

About Uday:

Uday comes from a humble background. His father runs a small fancy store, and his mother is an anganwadi worker. They sacrificed and saved every penny for Uday's and his sister's education. Uday moved to the USA 5 months back to pursue his MS. He had to take an educational loan with the help of friends as the family is not eligible for a higher education loan. He landed in the US with a lot of dreams to complete his education and help his family and his sister's education and marriage.

Both parents do not have a passport or Visa. They aren't able to apply for the passports due to holidays. They will apply for the passport and emergency visa in the next week. They also put the small house they have for selling to gather funds for their travel.

Why help Uday?

Uday is still in danger. He is fighting for his life. His left side of the brain is in a peak swelling state. It may take 3 to 4 weeks for that to be normal and recover from the surgery. He has to undergo another round of surgery to get the head bone and skull put back together. A major part of his left brain is almost dead, so he has to go through a long and extensive rehabilitation process.

What can you do?

The journey to recovery for Uday is filled with immense challenges, both physically and emotionally. The costs associated with the extensive medical treatments, emergency care, and ongoing rehabilitation are substantial. We are reaching out to our community to lend a helping hand during this difficult time.
