Multiple University of California Merced students have been accepted to participate in an internship and study opportunity in Cape Town, South Africa.
Fasha Lennon, a Computer Science and Engineering fourth-year undergraduate with a focus on STEM education and system integration. Fasha's mission is to bridge the gap between technology and social impact—to make sure that innovation isn’t just something that benefits a select few, but something that transforms communities everywhere, both locally and globally. Already having worked towards this with leadership experience in the National Society of Black Engineers, East African Student Association, and work experience in companies such as Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Automation, and CITRUS.
AJ Heard, a Civil Engineering fourth-year undergraduate with a focus on water infrastructure within developing countries. AJ plans to work into executive roles in companies that align with this vision and intends to obtain an MBA to heighten qualification. AJ is currently preparing to obtain an EIT certification before graduation, followed by obtaining a PE license soon after. AJ currently has exercised his leadership through the founding of Bobcat Community Builders, UNiFOODi, Live Or Dream Productions, and has worked in many different industries in locations such as California, Alaska, Oregon, and Illinois.
