Support Tyson's End of Life Care

Hi, my name is Brooke, and this kind of post is never easy to make. My best friend and soul cat Tyson has been given a terrible diagnosis — lymphoma. He’s been my best friend since he was born 11 years ago and having to prepare to say goodbye is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through. The lymph nodes in his abdomen are enlarged, as well as his colon. His blood tests have revealed anemia, low cholesterol, and low calcium. I only found this out because he woke me up in the early morning on June 24th with what appeared to be a seizure. We rushed him to the vet, and we were hopeful because it just seemed to be a diabetic episode from low blood sugar. I was optimistic that he would be alright. This turn of events is in a few words heartbreaking, there aren’t enough words to describe my grief.

Unfortunately, a lymphoma diagnosis in a cat is very bleak. Even with treatment, his life might only be extended by a few months, and I both can’t afford his treatment and don’t want to have him spend the last few months of his life in a vet’s office.

I’ve decided, with a heavy heart, to let him live as long as he can without treatment. This, of course, comes with the sudden and crushing financial burden of giving a cat end of life care, and preparing for his memorial after his passing. My ultimate goal is to get him cremated in a private ceremony that will allow me to bring his ashes home, where I can continue to love him even if he is no longer with me. I’m humbly asking for your financial support to get me and my family through this incredibly difficult process.

Tyson has touched the hearts of so many people, and it brings me an immense amount of joy knowing that he was so loved, not just by me. I don’t know if I will ever get over this heartbreak.

Thank you for reading, and I would greatly appreciate any support. Even just a dollar helps. If you can’t donate, please share this with friends and family. Thank you.

UPDATE (6/25): Tyson suffered a few more seizure-like episodes in the early morning while at the vet. He was prescribed some anti-seizure medication, as well as steroids to fight the cancer for a little longer. He’s back home now, laying comfortably in his favorite spots. I made sure to tell him about all the people who love him. Thank you everyone for your support so far!

UPDATE (6/26): Tyson has been doing well today, but his stomach seems a bit upset and his blood sugar is steadily rising. That’s a normal thing that happens when you’re on steroids but it’s even trickier to manage when he’s already diabetic. I’m watching over him very closely. I’m sure he’s sick of me being all in his business. Thank you all for the support! Any donations/shares are very appreciated!
